EBM and Guidelines Promoting Project (Minds)

The EBM Medical Information Department (Minds Secretariat) established within the Japan Council for Quality Health Care is in charge of this project. An executive director appointed by the Chief Executive supervises the project, and the Secretary-General assumes the role of Accounting Manager. To assist in the implementation of the project, the Steering Committee, Clinical Practice Guideline Selection Subcommittee, Subcommittee to Support the Preparation of Clinical Practice Guidelines, Subcommittee on Promotion of Use of Clinical Practice Guidelines, Subcommittee to Support Patients and Citizens, Expert Subcommittee on Evaluation of Clinical Practice Guidelines, and Expert Subcommittee to Support the Preparation of Clinical Practice Guidelines have been established under the supervision of the Executive Director to plan the project, manage its progress, and evaluate it. The roles of the steering committee, the various subcommittees, and the expert subcommittee are as follows.

1. Steering Committee

Our agency has established a "Steering Committee for the Project to Promote the Spread of EBM” consisting of external experts such as EBM experts, healthcare providers, patients and citizens, and has deliberated the operating policies and project content.

2. Subcommittee on Adoption of Clinical Practice Guidelines

Evaluation, selection, and disclosure of clinical practice guidelines, etc. are discussed by the Clinical Practice Guideline Selection Subcommittee, which is composed mainly of outside experts.

3. Subcommittee to Support the Development of Clinical Practice Guidelines

Support for the Development of clinical practice guidelines is provided by the Subcommittee to Support the Development of Clinical Practice Guidelines, which is composed mainly of outside experts.

4. Subcommittee on Promotion of Use of Clinical Practice Guidelines

Efforts to promote the use of clinical practice guidelines are discussed by the Subcommittee on Promotion of Use of Clinical Practice Guidelines, which is composed mainly of outside experts.

5. Subcommittee to Support Patient and the Public

This Special Subcommittee discusses the participation of patients and citizens in the development of clinical practice guidelines and the provision of information for patients and citizens.

6. Expert Subcommittee on Evaluation of Clinical Practice Guidelines

This Expert Subcommittee uses evaluation tools to evaluate the clinical practice guidelines that are subject to evaluation, together with the results of searches and screening of clinical practice guidelines, and prepares a report to provide feedback on the results of the evaluation.
